Commercial Contractor serving Estes Park and the mountain towns

Hospitality, retail, and civic construction in Estes Park, planned around the season, the canyon, and the park gateway.

01 / Overview

Estes Park is a different kind of commercial market: lodging, restaurants, retail, and civic facilities serving millions of annual visitors to Rocky Mountain National Park, built on steep sites with a short construction season and a supply chain that runs up Highway 34 or 36. Standard Development Company serves Estes Park and the Big Thompson and Saint Vrain canyon communities with general contracting, renovation, tenant finish, design-build, and owner's representation.

Our Loveland office is at the bottom of the canyon, about forty-five minutes from downtown Estes Park. That makes us a practical choice for owners who want a contractor close enough for regular site presence without paying mountain-town overhead on every trade.

Building in Estes Park

The Town of Estes Park handles planning and building permits inside town limits; the surrounding Estes Valley and the canyon communities fall under Larimer County, which also maintains the floodplain mapping redrawn after the 2013 flood. Downtown Estes Park has design standards for the commercial core, and anything that touches the Big Thompson or Fall River corridors needs a floodplain review early.

Scheduling is the real constraint. Lodging and restaurant owners need work done in the shoulder seasons, materials have to be staged with canyon closures and winter weather in mind, and the trades that will drive up the canyon daily need to be lined up well ahead of mobilization. Wildfire mitigation and the town's stormwater requirements also shape site and exterior scope.

02 / Questions

Common questions.

Can you complete a hotel or restaurant renovation in the off-season?

That is the normal way to do it. We plan Estes Park renovations around the shoulder seasons, with long-lead materials ordered and staged before the work window opens so the schedule is not waiting on deliveries up the canyon.

Do you work on properties in the Big Thompson Canyon?

Yes. Canyon work involves Larimer County permitting, floodplain review, and access and staging planning. We have the local knowledge to handle all three.

Do you serve other mountain towns?

Yes. Beyond Estes Park, we take on work in the Peak to Peak corridor and other mountain communities within reach of Northern Colorado. Contact us with the location and we will tell you whether it fits.
